Small Ruminant Fees

Fees for small ruminants and poultry are generally charged by time.

We generally charge less for vaccines in larger herds as Dr. Pollock doesn’t want the cost of vaccination to be prohibitive given at larger numbers of animals.  It is more important that the herd be protected and the people that provide them care, especially concerning Rabies.  This is not only an animal health issue but a public health issue as well. Although the prevalence is low, rabies is present in the bat population on Vancouver Island (<1%) and in the rest of B.C.  There have been no reported cases of Rabies in racoons, skunks or foxes like in the rest of Canada. However, there is still a risk, as described in 2003 when a BC resident died of Rabies after being in contact with a bat.  

That being said, we can discuss vaccinations, assess the risks and tailor a vaccination program that fit the needs of your individual farm.
